Compostable Packaging in the UAE Market

Compostable packaging works — but only if there's a compost stream to receive it.
Compostable packaging is not the same as recyclable or biodegradable. It requires industrial composting facilities to break down properly, which the UAE is still building.
What is compostable
PLA, molded pulp, uncoated kraft with water-based ink, cellulose films. Break down within 90 days in industrial composting.
What isn't
Anything with plastic lamination, foil, or PBOB coating.
The UAE reality
Municipal composting is expanding in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Restaurant compost programs are growing.
Best fit
F&B takeaway (restaurants), farmers' markets, organic brands.
Alternative
