Where gloss wins
- Photographic artwork. Product shots, food imagery and lifestyle photography lose depth under matte film and gain it under gloss.
- Food and bakery. Appetite appeal is largely a contrast and saturation effect. Gloss delivers both.
- High-throughput retail. Slightly better scratch resistance and marginally lower cost across tens of thousands of units.
- Promotional and event bags. Loud is the point.
Where gloss loses

170–190 GSM coated art paper for general retail, 210 GSM where the bag carries weight, gloss film on the outer face, twisted-paper handles for volume or cotton handles for a step up, and a base insert whenever the load exceeds about 3 kg.
