Recycled Kraft vs Virgin Kraft
Recycled and virgin kraft look nearly identical — but they perform, feel and cost differently.
Recycled and virgin kraft are the two flavors of kraft paper. Choosing between them shapes cost, sustainability and durability.
Virgin kraft
Long-fiber pulp direct from wood. Stronger, brighter, better print. Higher carbon footprint per sheet. Standard for premium kraft paper bags.
Recycled kraft
Short-fiber pulp from recycled paper. Slightly weaker, warmer color, sometimes visible fiber flecks. Significantly lower carbon footprint. Best for eco-friendly packaging.
Print differences
Recycled absorbs ink more, muting color. Fits well for earth-tone brands.
Cost
Roughly equivalent. Recycled sometimes marginally cheaper.
When to choose which
