How to Choose a Paper Bag Manufacturer in the UAE
The nine questions to ask any UAE paper bag supplier before you commit to a first order.
Choosing a packaging supplier is a decision you'll live with for years — through reorders, seasonal campaigns, and the moments when a launch is riding on a delivery slot. The wrong supplier costs more than a bad first run; they cost you deadlines and reputation.
Are they actually a manufacturer?
The UAE packaging market has more brokers than factories. A broker is not always a bad option — they can be flexible on small orders — but they add a margin and add a second point of failure. If you're planning to reorder regularly, buy from the factory directly.
Ask: Where is your factory? Can I visit? Which of the printing, finishing and assembly steps happen on your own equipment?
Do they have offset AND digital in-house?
Offset gives you Pantone-accurate, high-volume, low-per-unit cost. Digital gives you variable data, short runs and same-week turnaround. A serious manufacturer runs both, in-house, and helps you pick the right press per job.
Can they match your exact color?
Ask them to match a specific Pantone code and provide a printed proof on the actual stock — not a screen preview. If your brand color drifts across seasons, you don't have color management.
What's their MOQ, honestly?
MOQ is often stated as a floor and negotiated as a target. Digital printing lets some manufacturers accept 250–500 units on select products. If you're a new boutique or startup, this matters.
Do they archive artwork and dies?
For any reorderable product, this is critical. Every reprint should match the last one — same ink recipe, same die, same finishing. Ask what they archive and for how long.
What's their lead time for a first-time order vs a reorder?
First order: 10–14 working days is standard for paper bags, 15–20 for rigid boxes. Reorders should be faster — 7–10 days. If they can't cut reorder time significantly, they're rebuilding tooling every time.
Do they deliver to your address?
Sounds trivial. It isn't. If you're at Dubai Mall, they need service-lift access. If you're at RAK, you need a scheduled weekly run. If you're a hotel banquet, you need timed delivery. Ask about their logistics before you order.
What happens when something goes wrong?
It will. A press error, a foil that came out too orange, a delivery that missed by two days. Ask how they handle these — replacement policy, tolerance windows, communication. Their answer will tell you more than any brochure.
Do they understand your industry?
A retail bag for a boutique is not a takeaway bag for a coffee shop is not a rigid box for a jewelry store. Ask them who else they produce for in your category. Photos of their work in your industry are the best signal.
Sustainability capability, not just claim
Ask specifically: FSC-certified stock, water-based inks, plastic-free handles, recyclable finishing. If the answer is a vague 'we do eco', dig deeper.
At Paper Bag UAE we're happy to answer every one of these questions honestly. Book a factory visit or request a quote and we'll walk you through our answers.
